AI Output Disclaimer

Themis is a legal technology platform that uses artificial intelligence to assist with litigation research and document drafting. The following critical disclaimers apply to all output generated by the Themis platform:

• Not legal advice. No output generated by Themis constitutes legal advice, legal opinion, or a legal recommendation. All output is provided for informational and drafting assistance purposes only.
• Attorney review required. All AI-generated documents, analyses, citations, and recommendations must be independently reviewed, verified, and approved by a licensed attorney before being filed with any court, sent to any opposing party, or relied upon for any legal purpose.
• No attorney-client relationship. Use of the Themis platform does not create an attorney-client relationship between you and Themis, its founders, employees, or affiliates.
• No guarantee of accuracy. While Themis is designed with provenance tracking and citation verification, we do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any AI-generated output. AI systems can produce errors, including incorrect citations, inaccurate legal analysis, or incomplete identification of relevant authority.
• Professional responsibility. The attorney of record bears sole professional responsibility for any work product derived from Themis output that is filed, submitted, or communicated to clients, courts, or opposing parties.

Use of the Site

You may use the Site for lawful purposes only. You agree not to:

• Use the Site in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Site or its systems.
• Interfere with or disrupt the operation of the Site.
• Use automated systems (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access the Site without our written permission.
• Reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from Site content without authorization.

Intellectual Property

All content on the Site, including text, graphics, logos, images, and software, is the property of Themis Legal AI or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not use, reproduce, or distribute any content from the Site without our prior written consent.

User-Submitted Content

If you submit case documents, legal materials, or other content to the Themis platform, you retain ownership of that content. By submitting content, you grant Themis a limited, non-exclusive license to process the content solely for the purpose of providing services to you. We will not use your submitted content to train AI models or share it with third parties except as necessary to provide the requested services (e.g., processing through the Anthropic API for AI analysis).

Confidentiality

We understand that legal materials may contain confidential and privileged information. We maintain reasonable safeguards to protect the confidentiality of user-submitted content, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and data handling procedures. However, you are responsible for ensuring that your use of the platform complies with your own confidentiality obligations, including any applicable rules of professional conduct.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Themis and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, arising from:

• Your use of or reliance on AI-generated output.
• Any errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in AI-generated content.
• Any decision made or action taken based on information provided by the platform.
• Any unauthorized access to or use of your data.
• Any interruption or cessation of the services.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Themis and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Site or platform, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Delaware.

Modifications

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

Termination
